Doctoral Consortium

Call for Participation

The International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling (ICAPS'07) invites PhD students to apply for the Doctoral Consortium.

The aims of the Doctoral Consortium are to provide a forum for students to present their current research and receive feedback from other students and senior researchers; and to facilitate networking among Ph.D. students and senior researchers working in the same area.

The Doctoral Consortium will provide a variety of opportunities for PhD students to mutually discuss their work, and to meet senior researchers with similar interests. Depending on the number of submissions, it is expected that around 30 students are accepted. There will be a full day workshop on September 22, where all accepted papers will be given a short time slot for oral presentation. Further, all accepted papers will be presented in a poster session during the main conference. Two of the papers will be distinguished with a best paper award, and a best paper runner-up award, respectively. Each student will be assigned a mentor, i.e., a senior researcher in the relevant area who will meet with the student during the conference. Last but not least, students accepted in the Doctoral Consortium will receive a scholarship that covers conference registration and part of their travel expenses.

We encourage submissions from Ph.D. students at any stage and from any topic area within Planning and Scheduling. Preference will be given to students who are far enough along to have formulated their dissertation topic. Applicants should submit an extended abstract of three (3) pages maximum. The submission should be in AAAI style and sent as a PDF file by email to Joerg Hoffmann (joerg.hoffmann at deri.at). It should describe original work that is part of the doctoral work of the student. We encourage the submission of work that is still in progress. If an extended version of the paper is accepted at the main conference or also submitted to a workshop, please indicate this in the submission.
